VLAN

In general, the switch has one common broadcast domain and a separate collision domain. Due to this common collision domain switch made an inefficient communication. For this phenomenon, CPU utilization of switch increased which made the production network slow.

By use of VLAN(Virtual local area network)
We can able to logically segregate the broadcast domain into multiple separate broadcast domains.
If I go with a general definition of VLAN, VLAN is a process or technique by which logically divided the broadcast domain into multiple separate broadcast domains.
By default, every switch has five VLAN's.
VLAN 1,1002,1003,1004,1005. We can not delete or modify this VLAN.
Vlan 1-Generally all switch port stays in this VLAN.
Vlan 1002-FDDI
Vlan 1003-token ring
Vlan 1004-FDDI default
Vlan 1005-trnet
Vlan 1002-1005 is a legacy technology, these are not used in the production networks. By default, the VLAN database file name is VLAN. day. You can use the vtp file <filename> command to rename the file.
