Routing

The general meaning of Routing is "the scheduling of the route or itinerary of people, freight, etc."
In the case of networks Routing is a process by which the router finds the best path for a data packet in between source and destination.
Note: there are two types of protocols
Routed Protocol and Routing Protocol.
Routed protocol: Routed protocol is a protocol that helps to travel data packets in the network.
Like: Ip,  IpX, Apple talk.
Routing protocol: Routing protocol is a protocol that helps to find the best path between source and destination.
Again Routing protocol subdivided into two types:
Static Routing
Dynamic Routing
Static Routing: In this type of routing we are selecting a manual path for the destination. That type of routing is the most trusted routing.
Dynamic Routing: In this type of routing router decides what is the best path for the destination base on metrics. That type of routing considers as partially untrusted routing.
Pros:
Static routing is trusted.
Dynamic routing easy to use and configure.
Cons:
Static routing very complex to configure for a big network.
Dynamic routing is an untrusted routing.
