EMF survey

EMF survey is one of the important cell surveys which determined an EIRP ratio of the cell sites.EIRP stands for (Effective Isotropic Radiated Power), EMF survey is to perform to collect the EIRP ratio to know about the strength of EMF signal across the BSS(Base station subsystem).

NEED OF EMF SURVEY:

This survey is performed to check the harmful effect caused due to the high power radiation of the EMF from the tower.

TRAI GUIDELINES FOR EMF SERVEY:

# Old Guidelines:

@ According to the TRAI(Telecom Regularity Authority of India) the survey area across the nominal point should be 20 meters.

@ EIRP ratio according to TRAI should be less than 1.

      # EIRP<1.

# New Guidelines:

@ According to the TRAI, the survey area across the nominal point should be 60 meters.

@ EIRP ratio should be less than 0.5.

      #EIRP<0.5.

EMF SURVEY TOOLKITS:

o   GPS

o   Laptop

o   Digital Camera

o   Magnetic Compass

o   Measuring tape

o   Binocular

o   Writing Material

o   EMF tester/EMF meter

o   Safety Kit

o   Lat, Long, AMSL value of the allocated site.

PROCEDURE OF EMF SURVEY:

@ With the help of GPS, we have to reach the nominal point or BTS site.

@ Collection of Data:

o   Site id

o   Site name

o   Site address

o   Full GPS photo with accuracy (<=5.0).Lat,long,date,time photo.

o   Antenna height

o   Tower height

o   RF cable length

o   12 panoramics photo 30 degrees apart(0,30,90,120…..360), in the photo sky should be 10% & cluster 90% .

o   Calculating the firing angle/azimuth angle.

o   All sector photos(sector 1, sector 2, sector 3), sector photo take such manner where half part of the above part of the tower where GSM antenna installed.

o   Site photo.

o   If any tower within 30 meters distance from exitance tower adjacent, alone photo and combine photo and degree and height.

o   All surround build photos from a nominal point or tower.

o   Site layout diagram.

o   Building layout diagram.

CALCULATION METHOD:

There are two methods to calculate the EIRP ratio:

Using EMF tester

Using calculation sheet(Formulated excel sheet)

COLLECTION OF ADJACENT BUILDING DATA/DETAILS:

To collect the adjacent building detail, the building layout is designed-

SIGNAGE BOARD:

According to EIRP calculation various signboard is placed around tower.

Danger signboard: at tower where maximum EIRP radiation was found.

Caution signboard: Around the tower where EIRP is average.

Warning signboard: at the entrance of the tower where the EIRP ratio low.
